TRUST GOD TO GET YOU THERE

So let’s imagine this young man named Tony, who is a businessman, who also enjoys spending time with his friends. Tony had a very important business trip pending but wanted to have a quick catch up with a few friends before his went to the airport, he was having fun only to suddenly realise he needed to be at the airport ASAP to be able to catch his flight to Greece for his huge business trip that would make or break his career! Now Tony was running late for his flight, so he quickly got an Uber to take him to the airport which was miles and miles away from his current location. On his way to the airport he had a sense of urgency and felt that the Uber driver was not driving fast enough for his liken and would NOT get him to the airport on time, Tony thought he could get to the airport quicker than the Uber so he took matters into his own hands and decided to get out of the Uber and start running on foot to the airport! On the road he suddenly realised his briefcase and luggage’s were still in the Uber (and he had to get it back somehow) it then dawned on him that he was NOT going to make it on time if he went back for his luggage & briefcase (which contained all the files he needed to be effective for his all important meeting he was travelling for) as well as catch the flight. He realised he made a mistake of jumping out of the Uber.

Tony reminds me a little bit of you and I, we all have a destination (this destination could be our purpose, goals, visions, plans etc). that we want to get to or attain at some point in our lives. God being our driver (director, guide) driving us to our destination, often times we feel like the driver (director, guide) is taking too long to get us to our destination and it might be getting too late for us to achieve our goals, dreams and visions in life. We feel the urge (like Tony in our case study) to jump out of God’s directions & plans for us and use our own strength and ability to get us there.

One thing I understand from Tony’s story is that God is not just taking us to our destination (purpose or goal) but He is also taking us to fulfil the purpose for the destination, I know there are time when we feel like we need to be in a hurry to achieve the greatest goals and dreams but have we ever paused for 1 second to ask ourselves ‘What is God’s plans for my destination’ (purpose or vision)?

Jeremiah 29:11 (GNB) says ‘I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for’.

I believe the only way we can thoroughly know God’s purpose for our lives is to come closer to Him, trust Him as He directs/leads us and let Him make a way for us.
